It's all over. Alex McLeish is gone, and not one tweet, post, facebook update by a Villa fan expresses sorrow. Mainly relief. So what sealed his fate? The lack of wins?? 9 in 42, including one games against Hereford United who got relegated from the football league (even though we didn't score until 80mins) and one against Bristol Rovers, also of League Two. The message boards have been going crazy. Dreadful manager, relegated twice with Blues, finished third with Rangers... Forget the fact that he got Blues to their highest League finish in over fifty years and a League Cup, a bigger achievement than Villa have managed in the last 16 years. Maybe giving the boy Clarke a run or buying in January is the best option. They are two slow for a partnership. ...
At a time when many people are giving out about Villa's lacklustre performances and disappointment with the board for what is seen as a lack of ambition, maybe we should take a step back and look at how the most successful manager in the history of English football (or probably any club in world), and maybe dream that a similar journey may be beginning at Villa Park. Twenty-five years ago, on Ferguson was appointed manager at Old Trafford on 6 November 1986, succeeding Ron Atkinson ...
